Super Sketchy Sunday at 365 Cards

 Surprise! I am back. It has been awhile since I have been able to sit down and create at my craft table. Work and family duty called. I decided to try something easy to get my mojo going. This past Sunday was sketch day at 365 Cards. To see the original sketch and the other creative interpretations, click on the link I provided.

This is a close up of the sentiment I used from Verve. I was noticing it quite a bit on Splitcoast and finally broke down and ordered it. Do you see the rose? Is it Prima or not? Not. I ordered a few different styles from Wild Orchid Crafts and they arrived today. I will say these come from the UK but other than the short delay due to the Iceland volcano, they flew over fast. You get so many more for the money! I can’t wait to use more.  Now for the whole card:

 I used paper from the Memory Box gossamer collection. The ribbon is from Papertrey Ink and the strip below the ribbon was made using a Martha Stewart border punch. There really isn’t more to explain. Now to just figure out who to give this to. Tomorrow is Wednesday already, the work week will be half way over :)

My Lavender space challenge

 Today at 365 Cards Pam challenged us to a white space challenge. Since I used a lavender cardbase, mine is called the Lavender space challenge. I made this quick and easy because I spent my evening helping our middle son get organized in his new house.

The card details are: cardstock – Papertrey Ink Lavender Moon, ink – Versamagic Purple Hydrangea, stamp – Studio G, ribbon – May Arts, bling – Basic Grey, Nestie – New Label 10 :)

Happy New Year!

 Happy New Year friends! We rang in the new year quietly at home last night after having dinner with our middle son. Our poor little dog Zoey unfortunately didn’t appreciate the fireworks going off. She went crazy in the house shredding anything she could find :(

Since I am home today for the holiday I was able to check out the first challenge for 2010 on 365 cards.

The challenge was a 5 for Friday. What ever element you used on your card had to be in groups of 5. I opted for the clean and simple approach. (If you click on the picture, it will enlarge for you). I used my set from PaperTrey Ink called Remember. After stamping the blossoms in Versamagic Purple Hydrangea and the stems and leaves in Memento Cottage Ivy. I attached a small green pearl to the stem. The sentiment is from the same set and was just stamped in black ink. I tried piercing 5 holes around the sentiment, under the sentiment but was not happy on my sample so that element didn’t make the final card.

I am going to eat a bit of lunch and then start on a project I have been wanting to tackle since getting my new Expedit cube system. Taking more of my wooden stamps of their blocks. Wooden blocks add a lot of weight, and some of my fabric cubes are HEAVY. I have my cd cases ready, paper is cut into squares to make an index in each case, I just need my ambition to kick in. Here’s hoping the tuna sandwich provides it.

A flower soft birthday

Next week is my Mom’s birthday and I wanted to make her a special card. I keep buying new stuff and sat down tonight to finally try some of it out.

I began by cutting a piece of white cardstock with the Labels 4 nesties. While keeping the die in place I sponged Pink Pirouette ink inside. I attempted to use Sweet Blush by PTI to match the cardstock, but sadly the ink pad had bit the dust and was just an oily pad with no color. I looked through my flower stamps to find one that would work well with the flower soft and came across one by Another Stamp Company. I colored the stems with a copic marker and used Sweet Pea flower soft on the blooms. I set that aside to dry. The Basic Grey Wisteria pad arrived a few days ago and I knew I wanted to use some of that paper. Using a color wheel, I looked at what would be complimentary to the Sweet Blush I had already chosen. Some of you might say, since you used Pink Pirouette ink why not use that paper? Because I didn’t have matching ribbon and I had this twill that did match from PTI. So I discovered that a soft green would go well and pulled the green and white dotted piece from the paper pack. In keeping with the dots, I used my CB swiss dot border from the Just My Type set and embossed the middle of the green panel. I used a Martha Stewart butterfly punch, the SU ticket corner and the SU window word punch. I added different size pearls to the label diecut, butterflies and green panel to keep with the stick pin I created for the knot. I bought the beads and hardware at Michaels. After assembling the card front, I bent the wings on the butterflies to help add dimension. I am so glad I don’t have to mail this!

So one more item ticked off my list, now to work on masculine cards….

Birthday cards for others

So today I started on making cards for my sister. She needs a few more than she originally thought so I am trying to pick some layouts that won't take me too much time to put together. I also would like to keep them so it doesn't take any special packaging or extra stamps to mail them. The card on the left was made with Papertrey Ink Summer Sunrise ink, paper and ribbon. The stamp inside is SU Upsy Daisy. This was really quick to put together and I think I will make this in more shades. The card on the right I hope she will find appropriate for a masculine birthday. I used the clear set by Stampendous Changito Baker. I just love that monkey!! I colored him in with Copics and added just a touch of Liquid Pearls on his hat. The strip of pp is from the DCWV Sweet matstack. So hopefully my sister will like these and I will make a few more of each to send up to her.
